<p>During startup KDE needs to perform a check of its system configuration (mimetypes, installed applications, etc.), and in case the configuration has changed since the last time, the system configuration cache (KSyCoCa) needs to be updated.</p><p>This option delays the check, which avoid scanning all directories containing files describing the system during KDE startup, thus making KDE startup faster. However, in the rare case the system configuration has changed since the last time, and the change is needed before this delayed check takes place, this option may lead to various problems (missing applications in the K Menu, reports from applications about missing required mimetypes, etc.).</p><p>Changes of system configuration mostly happen by (un)installing applications. It is therefore recommended to turn this option temporarily off while (un)installing applications.</p>

<p>Tijdens het opstarten dient KDE een controle van diens systeemconfiguratie (mime-bestandstypen, geïnstalleerde programma's etc) uit te voeren. In het geval de configuratie sinds de laatste keer is gewijzigd dient de cache met systeemconfiguratie (KSyCoCa) te worden bijgewerkt.</p> <p>Deze optie stelt deze controle uit. Hierdoor wordt voorkomen dat tijdens het starten van KDE alle mappen met bestanden die het systeem beschrijven worden doorzocht, waardoor KDE dus sneller start. Echter, in het zeldzame geval dat de systeemconfiguratie gewijzigd is sinds de laatste keer, en de wijziging is nodig voordat deze uitgestelde controle plaatsvindt, kan het gebeuren dat dit tot problemen leidt. Denk hierbij aan ontbrekende programma's in het K-menu, foutmeldingen over ontbrekende mime-bestandstypen, etc.).</p> <p>Wijzigingen in de systeemconfiguratie komen meestal voor tijdens het installeren/deïnstalleren van programma's. Het is daarom aan te raden om deze optie tijdelijk aan te zetten als u programma's wilt installeren of verwijderen.</p>
